From an energy viewpoint, taking a shower is a lot like throwing money down the drain in the form of heated shower water.  What if you could recover half of that heat, and use it to preheat the incoming shower water?  With the Drainwater Heat Recovery systems included in each home this happens automatically!

 

    A simple device, it replaces a section of the normal plastic shower drain line with a copper equivalent.  Around the copper drain section a second coil of copper pipe is wrapped that supplies the cold water to the shower.  The result:  Less hot water is needed to achieve a desired temperature setting since the water leaving the shower helps heat the water coming in.  No moving parts, doesn't block the drain in any way, and only requires a bit of extra thought during the plumbing design stage to slash the energy cost of showering forever!
